Can you cross check your life expectancy years with those of the Central Statistical Office (CSO). I have always wondered why each and every NGO has a diffrent figure for this. Are most people you are meeting in Zambia less than 40 years old. I wonder why Zambians despite a preponderance of young men and women are voting for politicians who if statistics are to be believed should have been dead 32 years ago.

@Mbulawa: according to the World fact book (https://www.cia.gov/library/publications/the-world-factbook/geos/za.html) their data is from estimates in 2009. I did check CSO in Zambia (http://www.zamstats.gov.zm) and they have the Life Expectancy at birth average listed as 50 – however their stats are from a 2000 census – pretty old.

I can not tell you what we have seen because we haven’t been there yet
Either way – the life expectancy (40-50 years) is way less than the 81.23 reported for Canada (where I am from). This country needs hope!
